STANDING MAN

Standing

Standing

Yes. We do this standing.

And it’s all alright if you fall

Get bruised—get beaten—get down—

Get bloody—get tired listening

To your marrow scream

Or your eyelids loud refusal to rest.

And we rise where we’ve fallen

And stand.

Standing

Standing,

We resolve

And we stand.

And the Mountain lends a hand here.

The Mountain.

It knows resolve,

It knows compassion

It knows standing

And what is compassion?

A suffering with—A sharing of—

An enduring—together.

Without the energy from the dark deep

Compassion is not itself at all.

Without the darkness and its bright Jewel,

Compassion is only a burned out husk

Of its truest self

So we stand

Standing

And standing

We do together.
